Introducing your AI advantage

‘The AI Advantage Workshop’ is a Predictive Edge event produced by Southbank Investment Research Ltd. By signing up you agree to receive emails about the event.

The backtesting is conducted as follows:

  1. Stock Selection (this dictates which stocks are picked)
    - The OVI is a proprietary patented indicator revealing options traders sentiment on individual stocks.
    - Pick those S&P 500 stocks with positive OVI behaviour and higher correlation to the OVI indicator.
    - Other attributes include volume behaviour and dividends.
  2. Timing (dictates how much to invest in stocks or cash)
    - This broadly calculates a weighted average of OVI scores across all S&P 500 stocks.
  3. Portfolio Construction (dictates the individual stocks’ weights)
    - This weights the selected stocks to control overall volatility.
  4. Simulation
    - Assume an initial $ Net Asset Value
    - Each week (close of Tuesday), repeat process 1-3.
    - Assume trades are filled at open of Wednesdays with a conservative 5bps transaction cost.
    - Recalculate NAV every day, taking into account dividends and corporate actions, in the same way that a real fund would account for them.
  5. Compare vs. SPY Total Return Index
    - Annualized Returns
    - Risk (Volatility, Max Drawdown)
    - Risk Adjusted Returns (derived from simulated NAV).
